WALLA WALLA TRAFFIC SAFETY TASK FORCE
The Walla Walla County Traffic Safety Task Force works with local organizations, law enforcement and volunteers
to help educate citizens on pedestrian and traffic safety issues.Current goals of the Walla Walla County Traffic Safety Task Force
are:

Reducing the number of drinking driver traffic deaths
-
Increasing community involvement in Task Force sponsored events
-
Reducing the number of MIP (minor in possession), MIC (minor
in consumption) and DUI arrests
-
Maintaining the high use of safety belts in the county
-
Increasing the percentage of correct child passenger safety use
and installation

Increasing awareness of bicycle and pedestrian safety
Projects
and Programs:
- Recognition Ceremonies: (see

- Task Force Meetings: Open to the public; held
on the third Thursday of each month at 12 Noon. Contact Task Force
Coordinator for meeting locations.

- English Panels are held monthly on the second Tuesday of the month
- Spanish Panels are held quarterly on the first Thursday of the
month

Every
15 Minutes Program: View

- Task Force coordinates this county-wide program aimed at reducing
underage drinking and driving.
- Annual programs at the high schools within the county –
volunteer assistance and speakers are welcome.

- DUI Victim Memorial Park: View

- Current or past citizens of Walla Walla County who died as
a result of being a victim of a DUI collision are memorialized
with a tree and plaque placed at the Millcreek Sports Complex.
- Walla Walla Valley Child Passenger Safety Team:
- Presentations, classes and car seat check up events are offer
through the Traffic Safety Task Force’s Child Passenger
Safety Team
- 1-hr., 2-hr., 4-hr., 8-hr. informational classes on proper
installation of car seats are offered to businesses, day cares
and parent classes
- 32-hour car seat technician classes are available on request.
Students of this class will become certified in installing
car seats for all ages of children along with being trained
in car seat check up events
- Booster Seat program – Provides kindergarten students
with a short educational program on the reasoning behind using
their booster seats
