The Clallam County Traffic Safety Task Force was first organized in August of 1984 and colaborates with other law enforcement and local organizations to promote safe driving and help educate the public on traffic Safety issues.

In 1990, the task force developed a DUI Victims Panel Program and conducted a formal evaluation and a manual for organizing a Victims Panel. In 1991, the task force was one of the leaders in passing a state law establishing attendance at a victims panel as a sentencing option for those convicted of driving under the influence. The task force also led the way in organizing the "Night of a 1,000 Stars" DUI Emphasis Patrol which is held statewide in December. The task force compiled an extensive nomination package that resulted in the Washington State Community DUI Task Forces receiving the National Youth Leadership Award from the National Commission Against Drunk Driving Award in 1988.
